	NEW Stefan Schneider, the former member of Kreidler, will aurally explore the African continent on the LP, which is entitled The Africa Chamber. Schneider's work here doesn't faithfully recreate sounds from Africa, though. Instead, as the PR states, it's "a fanciful wunderkammer of would-be African sounds" that see Schneider working in all manner of experimental sounds and methods. It's Schneider's debut behind the decks as a producer, and it marks a notable change in method. "More and more analogue percussion" has been added to the mix, courtesy of Nicholas Addo-Nettey and Thomas Klein. Robert Wyatt collaborator and talented trombonist Annie Whitehead also joins the crew for a number of tunes as well.

	Neu Verschweisst! Überhaupt gar nicht breitbeinig britisch kommen die beiden Manchesteraner von der Marconi Union daher. Zurückhaltung ist auch für diese beiden postrockistischen Elektroniker das Maß, und so lässt man den meditativ-molligen Flächen genügend Zeit zur Entfaltung. Das ist ganz famos geeignet für die zwangsläufig auf uns zukommenden langen Winterabende. Außerdem haftet einem jeden der sieben Songs – um noch eine Floskel oben draufzuschippen – etwas soundtrackartiges an. Welch Wunder, haben wir es hier doch mit Musik zu tun, mag sich die aufmerksame Leserin hier nicht ganz zu Unrecht denken. Und sollte dennoch ein Ohr riskieren. Spektakuläre Innovation findet man hier vielleicht nicht, dafür aber immense Detailverliebtheit und ein besonderes Gefühl für den großen Moment.

	NEW Chilean born, German raised MATIAS AGUAYO is one of those rare talents you come across that genuinely works in music for the sake of loving music. KOMPAKT's long, love affair with MATIAS AGUAYO runs all the way back to his first official act (together with Dirk Leyers) as CLOSER MUSIK back in 2000. Though short lived, their releases were foundation builders for the label and still stand as relevant as the day the songs were recorded. Following their demise, Matias felt the urge to abandon the rules that he felt techno imposed on him and moved towards a more organic approach to making music. His first foray into this would be with his 2005 debut solo album "Are You Really Lost" (KOMPAKT CD 44) and was then followed with 2 singles for the respected SOULJAZZ imprint. Matias returned to KOMPAKT in 2008 with 2 12" bombs - the club anthems "Minimal" and "Walter Neff". Feeling refreshed and inspired from travelling throughout Latin America, Aguayo was back to end the cycle of boredom that was permeating dance music! His nomadic time there had brought him to explore a wealth of different stlyes of music and from his Buenos Aires base he had formed the label/collective Cómeme and the "bumbumbox" street parties which can be seen and heard all over their global voice - YouTube and MySpace. That brings us to his sophomore full length "AY AY AY". Recorded in Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile and Paris together with Vicente Sanfuentes (Original Hamster), "AY AY AY" was mixed down in Berlin together with long time collaborator Marcus Rossknecht (of Broke fame) Matias has conjured an impossibly unclassifiable full length that is certain to surprise and elate anyone that should come across this true breakthrough of a recording. Take opener "Menta Latte" - countless layers of his voice revel in a psychedelic dream park together with a simple xylophone chord. First single "Rollerskate" - Matias unpretentious first single "Rollerskate" chorus is damned to stay on auto repeat in your head for days after a first listen, holding you on dearly to those last days of summer. His leanings to traditional African music resonate with the beautiful crooner "Koro Koro". Fans of his recent singles will rejoice to the rhythm of songs "Me Vuelvo Loca" and "Juanita" - Latin harmonies embraced with Matias coaxing you to get up and dance. To call "Ay Ay Ay" ambitious would be an understatement - we can proudly state that MATIAS AGUAYO has managed to accomplish a rare achievement in music today - come up with a recording that is undeniably all his own and a landmark release for KOMPAKT.

	Ashley Beedle and Darren Morris present a taster for their Mavis project to the world via a vinyl only 10" Ep release on the 18th January. Over four tracks an introduction to the story of Mavis unfolds, acting as the perfect taster for the full album, due in February 2010. The EP features three of the guest vocalists from the album plus an alternate version of the Ed Harcourt track from the long player. Mavis has long been in the mind of Ashley Beedle and is named so in tribute to Mavis Staples of the Staples Singers. Taking an initial backing track as a starting point, numerous vocalists were approached and offered varied vocal takes which were then used as the basis for a remixing of the music to create original and diverse tracks from the one root. Kurt Wagner's 'Gangs Of Rome' deals with the fall of empire and took Ashley and Darren to a dark musical place, drawing on a seedy swing that swaggers like the Blood and Crips that embody the modern day gangs of the lyrics in the modern Rome of the USA. Ed Harcourt's two versions deal with a man facing the world alone, drawing the production duo into a world of drones and noise but punched through with a piano line for the finished version, the demo left more spaced out and disconnected. John Turrell's lolloping groove on 'What You Looking For' is a world away from both, a rich, soulful swing with a soaring chorus that drips with heart and passion as he confesses his shortcomings to an unnamed lover. The full length Mavis album features the artists above alongside established names such as Cerys Matthews, Sarah Cracknell, Edwyn Collins and Candi Staton whilst introducing a new generation of voices in Crazy P's Danielle Moore, Disa from Reykjavik and Dear Reader's Cherilyn MacNeil in addition to John Turrell of Smooth and Turrell who appears on the EP.

Richard Pinhas is internationally recognized as one of France's major experimental musicians: the "father" of French electronic music. As a guitar player, he has been compared to Robert Fripp. Cited as an influence by many electronic musicians, Pinhas has helped to define the space music genre. Since founding Heldon in 1974, Pinhas has released over 15 albums, had involvement in dozens more and shaped the way we listen to music today. Masami Akita aka Merzbow is the forerunner of Japanese electronic music, and for the last 20 years plus, has been at the top of his game ploughing more and more extreme sonic territories. This release, recorded in Tokyo in October 2007, will surprise a lot of people in its sheer beauty. This is a collaboration that works in the true sense of the word, with each artist complimenting the other over six long, sprawling tracks, each occupying the whole of each side. The set comes housed in a gloss-laminated sleeve and is limited to just 1000 copies.

	"after the release of 40 sekunden ohne gewicht, emphase is proud to present this first miniklon-release. 1,5 farfisa was composed and recorded by miniklon-member dirk specht. in fact he used only one farfisa, but several distortion- and compression-effects. that's why specht decided to name his piece 1,5 farfisa. he created a hypnotic track with a deep, heartbeatlike groove. it contrasts with 6 mbiras in many ways, but like this it's overtones provide a subtle deepness. musician and sound-artist frank schültge aka f.s.:blumm works and releases with countless musical projects on labels like morr, gefriem, tom, staubgold, plattenmeister and others. definitely blumm reached an underground cult-status in germany already. blumm composed 6 mbiras as an answer to 1,5 farfisa: "now my job - introducing the instrument according to its inherent nature and, at the same time, empathizing with "1.5 farfisa" - was not hard, because the automatic expression which arises when i play the mbira has mostly a repetitive and minimal-music-like gesture." another reference is -not only by name-: "six marimbas", a piece by steve reich." A beautiful melody line from The Hacker sends the track into the stratosphere. This is the second commercially available single release from the album. "P.P.P.O". Or, if you prefer: People, Pleasure, Objects, Power. Is this what Nitzer Ebb might have sounded like if they were sexier? This is electronic music at it's best, bursting with energy, hooks, dynamism and power. Watch out for this track on a pre-release to the clubs as the first single complete with Function's (Sandwell District) remix, before the album release. "Party In My Head". Classic Moroder meets disco era Blondie. On Saturn. A dance track, which conjures up visions of dry ice, ultra-violet lighting and spinning mirror ball reflections. There's a constant party in someone's head, somewhere, is there not? Check this out when it is released commercially as the third single after the album release date. It will also feature remixes. "Indulgence". Full-on electro-rock n' roll EBM dance-floor work out. Will sound extremely dangerous gushing forth from a huge speaker stack in a club. A live killer. "Emotional Interlude". An image of Düsseldorf lingers in the foreground. Miami (or perhaps Detroit) skyline is in the hinter-ground. Kittin intones a sinuous mantra over The Hacker's growling bass drones. Gorgeous. "Suspicious Minds". The spirit of the King lives on in this sweetest cover version and the first Kittin & Hacker vocal duet. 	Was soll man dazu schreiben, ohne sofort Verdacht zu wecken, dass man übertreibt? Der 35-jährige Fernando Corona aus Mexico alias Murcof macht mit die beste Musik, die es gegenwärtig auf diesem Planeten gibt. Das deutete sich bereits auf seinem Erstling Martes an, Remembranza übertrifft alle meine hohen Erwartungen. Was macht diese Musik aus? Zuvorderst die Editierkunst von Fernando Corona. Wie auf Martes verwendet er viele Sounds von Streichern und editiert sie mit rhytmischen Glitches, die klingen, als würdest du ECM-Platten von Minimalisten auflegen und den Tonabnehmer mit Druck in die Rille hineinsetzen und wieder hinaus ziehen. Er verschmilzt mit diesen Effekten digitale Glitches und warme, emotionale Klänge, wie man das seit Trip Hop oder Drum'n'Bass kaum mehr gehört hat - ausser vielleicht bei Vladislav Delay. Die neun Tracks auf diesem Album sind alle samt spannend, die Effekte bzw. Murcofs Ton- und Soundsprache erschöpfen sich nicht. Ein Meisterwerk!
