	Gute 82 Jahre nach dem Buster Keatons erster (Stumm-)Film "Three Ages" das Licht der Welt erblickt hat, erscheint eine DVD, die nicht nur das 50-minütige Original von 1923 enthält, sondern diesen auch mit einer neuen Audiospur präsentiert. Dabei wurde der Film, in dem es um drei Epochen - The Stone Age, The Roman Age, The Present Age - der Menschheitsgeschichte dreht, nicht etwa nachträglich synchronisiert, sondern posthum mit einem Original Soundtrack versehen. Als Komponist wurde dafür von dem u.a. auf Restauration und Rerelease von Stummfilmen spezialisierten französischen Label Mk2Music niemand geringeres als Techno-Turntablist und Produzenten-Legende Jeff Mills, auch bekannt als die Hand Gottes, betraut. Für Mills, der bereits die Neuauflage von Fritz Langs "Metropolis" (im Original ebenfalls von 1923) und Claire Denis "Vendredi Soir" (2003) vertont hatte, ging nach eigenen Aussagen mit dem Auftrag ein lang gehegter Traum in Erfüllung, den zu erfüllen für einen seriösen Technomenschen wohl gar nicht so einfach war: "The >Three Ages< was quite a challenge as it is the first time I had to create music for a comedy", zitiert ihn das Begleitschreiben des Labels. Nebenbei hat der umtriebige Meister der multimedialen Anwendungen rund ums DJ-Pult noch einen 25 Min.-langen Video-Remix mittels pitch-und loopbarem DVD-Player angefertigt, den es als Bonus auf der Kauf-DVD zu erleben gibt. Six films made specificly for DVD edition, wich explore more and more the classical modern approach, and the music and picture meeting. “It’s a combination of a turn table and a DVD player : on the machine it has special fonctions that will loop and repeat certains frames and bars of the music. It’s very easy to loop something like that, so it’s a very interactive field that we have, using this machine. In addition to this machine, I have an Edirol video mixer which is basically an effect mixer then it is possible to split frame in multiplay frames or effects the film with a strock light or a negative result to give it much more organic feel. Also, allowing the viewer to be able to focus in, on particular things that would have been missed while watching the film in a normal rate in a theatre or watching it on TV. It’s possible then to see a gesture that probably happens so quickly : eyes, the way someone is looking at, or what exactly someone is touching on them face. This things are often missed while watching the film in a regular speed. I can easily loop or focus on that gesture so that you have actually time to see what is happening, to get much more out of the dialogue, or out of the script.” Jeff Mills
