The set also contained a black and white postcard sized photo of the members Gene and Dean Ween in white knit sweaters with a dog. There is also a white sticker included with a red outline image of the "boognish." |

Es spricht Dean Ween: \"Von unserem ersten Konzert 1987 bis zu dem Release von Chocolate and Cheese spielten wir Live als Duo. Das typische Set war immer etwa eine Stunde lang. Kein Jammen, ca. 24 pure Songs. Heute ist das alles etwas anderes. Natürlich wurden auch wir mit der Zeit besser und besser. Wir machten uns nicht mehr viele Gedanken, was die Zuschauer denken würden, sondern hatten einfach Spaß!
Ich erinnere mich kaum noch an das Konzert um Cat\'s Cradle, ausser das Public Enemy ein paar Tage vorher gespielt und die Anlage ruiniert hatten. Dementprechend gut gelaunt war unser Soundmann. Ich fand es großartig, denn ich mag Public Enemy und ich wollte auf der gleichen Bühne spielen! Wie auch immer, das Konzert ist absolut typisch für unseren Sound zu der Zeit!\"

The first in a projected series of Dick\'s Picks-styled archival live recordings on Ween\'s own Chocodog label, Live in Toronto Canada documents an October 23, 1996, date in support of the now-classic 12 Golden Country Greats. Backed by the Shit Creek Boys -- a group of veteran Nashville session men led by pianist Bobby Ogdin -- the tour in question was perhaps the apotheosis of the live Ween experience: Ogdin\'s countrified arrangements breathed new life into chestnuts like \"Doctor Rock\" and \"What Deaner Was Talkin\' About,\" and the Jack Daniels-fueled interplay between Deaner and Gener with the aging Nashville cats was pure magic. (As Deaner\'s liner notes point out, \"The 8-piece band sounded like a 747 landing on your house.\") Far more effective in capturing the life-altering genius of the Ween live show than the earlier Paintin\' the Town Brown collection, the disc divides evenly between 12 Golden Country Greats Material (including \"Japanese Cowboy\" complete with \"Chariots of Fire\" coda and an epic set-closing \"Fluffy\") and fan favorites (i.e., \"Push th\' Little Daisies\" and \"Buenas Tardes Amigo\"), culminating in a rendition of Billy Joel\'s \"Piano Man\" complete with the new chorus!

The Pod wurden von Dean und Gene Ween auf einem Tascam Four-Track Kasetten Recorder zwischen Januar und Oktober 1990 aufgenommen. Das Album wurde dann von Andrew Weiss produziert und fuer diese Edition von Howie Weinberg von Masterdisk re-mastered.
Meistens wird The Pod fuer Ween als die groesste Herausforderung als Album gesehen. The Pod (nach dem Namen der Wohnung in der Dean und Gene gemeinsam gelebt haben) ist es das surrealste Album der Band. Alle Songs sind schmutzig vielleicht desshalb weil diese auf einem Four-Track Kasetten Recorder aufgenomen wurden, und weil die Vocals verschiedenst manipuliert worden sind. Die Texte sind zuweilen sehr bizarre...koennte vielleicht and den Drogen liegen...

This Swedish duo get freaky with a hybrid of tribal folkisms, spiritually slanted pop music and manic drumming, following the kind of blueprint set out by all the various 'wacky' groups that came out following all the odd American folk fusions that did the rounds after Devendra Banhart and Joanna Newsom started making it big. Heartcore sounds like a joycore Mi & Lau, or a Scandinavian Paw Tracks tribute band most of the time, dipping into a miscellany of instruments and a slightly contrived, exaggerated singing style. Despite that sort of talk, this duo are actually a pretty likable pair, it just seems as though there's a lot of this sort of proficient, well-recorded, anything-goes (if slightly tuneless) avant-pop around nowadays, and as fun and jovially slipshod as it can sound, it's hard to imagine anyone really falling in love with this. |

Unquestionably Portland's most well-loved punk group, the Wipers formed in the late 1970s and in 1980 released their debut LP, "Is This Real?"- twelve songs of stabbing, jittery guitar, snapped vocals, and unabashed teen angst. Full of desperation and yearning, the LP has stood as a blueprint for wretched youth for over 25 years. In the early 1990s "Is This Real?" was given mainstream attention when Nirvana covered two tracks off the record and Cobain announced it was one of the primary influences on his group. While it was reissued on compact disc and available as a part of the Wipers Boxed Set (Zeno), this is the first time "Is This Real?" has been available on vinyl in the U.S. since its initial release. Remastered from original tapes as provided by Greg Sage himself, the LP is pressed on audiophile grade vinyl and housed in a deluxe tip-on sleeve. Complete with a printed insert that replicates the original innersleeve, the Jackpot Records reissue of "Is This Real?" is a lavish tribute to one of the greatest recordings of the last 30 years.
